We have finally added one of our most requested features: the ability to save and search your chat history!

With imo.im's chat history feature, you can:

• access and save past conversations from anywhere you can log into imo.im
• easily search through conversations by keyword or phrase
• view search results letter-by-letter as you type
• browse conversations with a particular buddy by day
• delete conversations with a particular buddy by day

How do I start?
Log onto imo.im and you'll see a pop-up that says you are using our chat history feature. After you see this message, all your conversations will be saved on our servers.



To stop logging your conversations, you can disable the chat history feature at any time. Simply click on preferences and deselect allow imo to encrypt and store my chat history. However, disabling the chat history feature does not delete conversations that were saved while the chat history feature was enabled (but we'll show you how to delete conversations, so keep reading).



Once chat history is enabled, it's easy to search through your past conversations. You can do a quick search by typing a word or phrase into the box labeled search chat history. A list of possible conversations will pop up.



Hover over the conversations, and click on the conversation you want to view once it is highlighted.



Now, you can see the conversation you selected. You'll also see the chat history calendar for that buddy. Days that have chat history for that particular buddy will be highlighted in teal on the calendar. The day you are viewing will be highlighted in blue. You can view conversations for another date by clicking a specific day on the chat history calendar.



You can delete a conversation with your buddy from a particular day by clicking on delete this conversation. A warning will pop up asking you to confirm deletion. As this message indicates, you cannot retrieve a conversation once you have deleted it.



If you want to do a full search, type a word or phrase into the box labeled search chat history as you did previously and click search.



You will see a pop-up that shows conversations that contain that search word or phrase. You can sort messages by clicking on either buddy or time. Select the conversation you want to view, and you will see the context of your search highlighted in yellow. You can do a more advanced search if you click on the show options link.



Another way to access chat history with a particular buddy is by hovering over her name on your buddy list and clicking on the history link.



If you already have a chat window open, just click on chat history.
