What is surf mode?
Surf mode lets you IM and surf the web at the same time. When you enter surf mode, a new window containing imo.im will pop-up to the side. This surf window will be a tabbed version of the imo.im user interface. Your original window will be resized and your home page will be loaded into it. Your new imo.im surf window will sit side by side with your original browser window. You will then be able to IM while you check your email, watch YouTube videos or read the news.

To enter surf mode, all you need to do is click the "surf left" or "surf right" button located above the sign on box. Surf left will open imo.im on the left hand side of your screen, and surf right to the right. Your accounts and conversations will be carried over, so don't worry about losing those. Video chats won't carry through though. If you need to go back to the full window interface, you can click on the "switch to full screen" button found under the "Sign on" tab. Again, your accounts and conversation history will move over, but your video chats will not.

The surf mode user interface has a few useful keyboard shortcuts. The "Tab" key lets you tab forward between the open tabs. "Shift+Tab" allows you to tab backwards. The "Escape" key will close the currently focused tab. If you don't always want the "Sign on" tab visible in surf mode you can close it. We have provided links at the top-right to re-open both the "Sign on" tab and "Buddy List" tab.

We hope this improves your imo experience : ) Send us your feedback here:
